Bella’s body jerked a bit as Alice reached out and grabbed a hold of her shoulders, causing her to come to a complete stop. She knew her face would be planted firmly in the ground it if hadn’t be for Alice’s hold. It was beyond her how someone so small had such a strong hold, but she was thankful none the less. The last thing she wanted was to have to have Charlie escort her back to the hospital for a broken nose. She was about to thank her, but Alice’s words had caught her completely off guard. It was then she remembered why she had approached the girl in the first place. Edward. She had know now how Edward was able to do such things and as his sister, even if it was just adoptive, she had to know something.
Standing tall Bella smoothed out her shirt as she bit her lower lip before looking down to meet Alice’s gaze. This wasn’t the place to discuss anything. Everyone’s eyes were on her, more so than normal, and she didn’t want to potentially expose anything. “I-I don’t want to talk about me,” She stated softly as she glanced around the noisy cafeteria. It took her a moment to meet Alice’a gaze once more as she thought of a place to talk where no one could over hear them, that and a way of sneaking pass Charlie. The last thing she needed was him interfering and making her leave. “The woods… behind the school,” She trailed off. “Meet me there in five minutes.”
She knew she was asking a lot of Alice. After all, she never even spoke to her before and she was asking her to cut class. All she knew of the pixie like girl is what people said of her and it was mostly about how strange she was along with the rest of the Cullen group, that and the little snips and pieces Edward had said of her which of course wasn’t much. It was quite obviously they were siblings and the two of them were close. “Please Alice,” She whispered softly before slowly turning her back on the girl.
Bella headed out of the cafeteria the same way she had come, but this time walking at a normal pace. Her heart was racing again. She wanted the answers and part of her knew she would more than likely not get anything about of her. If Alice was close to Edward as she seemed the loyalty was there. Bella just hoped she would at least show up and not leaving her standing in the middle of the forest for nothing. Taking a deep breath she headed to her left. The gym wasn’t too far from the cafeteria and the forest was just beyond the foot ball field. If only she could make it there without being seen by anyone.
Sneaking back out of the school had proved to be easier than she had thought. What make it completely fool proof was that there was no class going on at the moment in the gym, which had been odd. There wasn’t even a single student outside running track and Bella could have sworn there had always been a class at this time. Pushing the thought to the back of her mind she once again broke out in a sprint, this time heading toward the thick green trees that sat before here. She was completely out of breath when she approached her destination and for the sake of her father she didn’t travel too far into the woods just in case Alice didn’t show. There was no need to give him a heart attack because she managed to get lost. She had a feeling he’d never let her out of his sight if she did. After all, she was only meant to be getting something from her locker.
Turning towards the light, the exit, Bella sighed as she waited. “Please don’t stand me up Alice.” She whispered softly to herself..
